1. VARIDESK Pro Plus 36 Review

VARIDESK Pro Plus 36

The Pro Plus 36 is the best-selling model from the Varidesk ProPlus series. It’s not too big and not too small at 36” (91.5 cm), fitting perfectly into most room spaces.

The big laptop holder affords a secure area to set up and work from, while the upper tier provides enough area for one or two standing displays. This is the most versatile of the ProPlus series.

Strong and Sturdy – Supports up to 35lbs (15.5 kg), which is enough to carry two monitors and a laptop.

Dimensions of 36 Pro PlusJust the Right Size – at 36” (91.5cm), this is the mid-size model from Varidesk, offering just the right amount of room for your equipment. Worksurface – 36″(W) x 29.75″(D)

Together the tiers measure 29 ¾ “ (75,5cm) deep, with the bottom tier offering 9 ½ “ (24cm) at the edge and 14 ¼ “ (36cm) deep in the center where there is a 20” (51cm) wide curve in the top tier, providing the largest laptop holder of the series.

The base is 30” (76cm) x 24” (61cm), making it suitable for most standard desks and treadmill desks. The total depth of the Pro Plus 36 is 41¾“ (106cm).

Dual Monitor – There is enough space on the Pro Plus 36 review for two standard standing monitors, but if you want to free up some area, an arm can be attached.

Height Specs – The variable height on this ergonomic desk ranges from 4 ½ “ (11.5cm) to 17 ½ “ (44,5 cm) with 11 different heights to choose from. Whether you’re short or tall or somewhere in between, there’s a height setting that will work for you, both sitting and standing.

PROS
  • Big Laptop Holder
  • Best Seller
  • Keyboard tray
CONS
  • Max weight capacity is only 35 lbs (15.5 kg)
  • Only enough area for two standard size monitors.

Summary: The ProPlus 36 is the best selling model from Varidesk for a good reason. It fits most room spaces while offering a good amount of surface area, especially for larger laptops.

.

2. VARIDESK Pro Plus 48

Pro Plus 48

The Pro Plus 48 is the largest of the series at, you guessed it, 48” (122cm). It’s big enough to hold two monitors, but you can get arms, which free up the area on the upper level. As with all the Pro Plus, this is a two-tier design.

The maximum height extension will add 17 ½ “ (44,5cm) to your standard desk height. The manual lift is spring-assisted, which makes switching between any of the eleven height levels almost effortless.

Heavy Duty – Supports up to 45 lbs (20.4kg), which is more than enough to carry a keyboard tray, two displays, and a cuppa.

VARIDESK Pro Plus 48 ModelsBIG – at 48” (122cm), this is the biggest model from Varidesk, with lots of room for all your equipment.

Together the tiers measure 29 ¾ “ (75,5cm) deep, with the bottom tier offering 9 ½ “ (24cm) at the edge and 12 ½ “ (32cm) deep in the center where there is a 20” (51cm) wide curve in the top tier to serve as a laptop holder.

The base is only 30” (76cm) x 24” (61cm), though, so it will fit on top of most standard desks. The total depth of the Pro Plus 48 is 41¾“ (106cm).

Dual Monitor – There is enough area on the Pro Plus 48 for two displays, but if you want to free up some area, a dual monitor arm can be attached.

Height Specs – The variable height on this model ranges from 4 ½ “ (11.5cm) to 17 ½ “ (44,5 cm) with 11 different heights to choose from. Whether you’re short or tall or somewhere in between, there’s a height setting that will work for you, both sitting and standing. Worksurface – 48″(W) x 20.13″(D)

PROS
  • Large – 48’ (122cm)
  • Double Monitors
  • Strong – max 45lbs (20,4kg)
CONS
  • Might be too large for a standard table
  • Desktop riser

Summary: This is a good choice if you need a lot of space to work on or if you need more than one monitor. If you have a corner desk the Varidesk Cubeplus 48 might fit better, but overall this is the workhorse of Varidesk’s Pro Plus series.

.

3. VARIDESK Pro Plus 30

Varidesk Pro Plus 30

The smallest of their range, the Pro Plus 30 measures 30” (76 cm) wide. This makes it a good size for a home office or a front desk.

It doesn’t take up too much space, so there will still be an area for papers, files, or cabinets on your standard desk.

This is also a good option for teens or students who have limited ergonomic table space. The Pro Plus 30’s two tiers can free up some of that area and make studying long hours more comfortable.

Strong – Though it’s small, the ProPlus 30 is strong for its size with a max weight capacity of 35 lbs (15.8 kg), which is more than enough to carry the basic essentials.

the Pro Plus 30Compact – at 30 inches (76cm), this is the smallest ergonomic model from Varidesk with a keyboard tray, saving space while providing extra surface area.

Together the tiers measure 29 ¾ inches (75,5cm) deep, with the bottom tier offering 9 ½ “ (24cm) at the edge and 15¾“ (40cm) deep in the center where there is a 14” (35.5cm) wide curve in the top tier to serve as a laptop holder.

The base is only 24” (61cm) x 24” (61cm) though, so it will fit on top of smaller standard desks. The total depth of the Pro Plus 30 is 41¾“ (106cm)

Single Monitor – There is enough area on the Pro Plus 30 for one monitor, but if you want to free up some space a monitor arm can be attached, just make sure not to overload it

Height Specs – The variable height on this desk ranges from 4 ½ “ (11.5cm) to 17 ½ “ (44,5 cm) with 11 different heights to choose from. Whether you’re short or tall or somewhere in between, there’s a height setting that will work for you, both sitting and standing. Worksurface – 30″(W) x 14″(D)

PROS
  • Compact yet Spacious
  • Space Saver
CONS
  • Laptop holder may be too small for larger laptops.

Summary: This is a good home office furniture if you don’t need a lot of space or if you have limited desk space as it is. The two extra tiers can add the extra area you need to work more comfortably. It does, however, offer a very small laptop slot, which may be a problem if this will be your primary work tool.

Varidesk Pro Plus 36 vs 48

There’s one main difference between the Pro Plus 36 and the Pro Plus 48, and that’s size:

ModelPro Plus 36Pro Plus 48
Width36” (91.5 cm)48” (122cm)
Laptop Cutout Depth14¼“ (36 cm)12½“ (32 cm)
Max Weight Support35 lb (15,8kg)45 lb (20,4 kg)

Both models have a base size of 30” (76cm) x 24” (61cm), a height range of 4 ½ “ (11.5cm) to 17 ½ “ (44,5 cm), a laptop cutout width of 20” (51cm), and a total depth of 41¾“ (106cm).

All in all, they’re pretty similar, but here are the things to consider when choosing between these two models:

Monitor Size and Weight – While both can carry two standard-sized displays, they’ll just fit on the ProPlus 36. There’s always the option of buying a monitor arm, but again this is for standard-sized displays…

If you use a large monitor, the size and weight may prove to be too much for the 36, so the 48 is a better bet.

Laptop Size – While both the Pro Plus 36 and 48 have an adequately sized second tier to fit a full-sized keyboard, if you like flipping your laptop screen all the way open, you may have trouble with the ProPlus 48.

Pro 36 vs 48

The laptop stand is only 12½“ (32cm) – compared to 14 ¼ “ (36 cm) on the ProPlus 36 – which can prove a little tight when you’re working n your feet and using your laptop screen.

Overall Desk Size= – While both bases take up the same area on your desk, the overall size of the ProPlus 48 may prove to be too much for your standard desk to accommodate. When fully lowered, the 48 will take up 48” (122cm) of your desk space.

Now, while you can move the base right to the edge of your table to save as many areas as possible, your standard table may just have too much on it already to be able to afford enough space for the ProPlus 48.

Things like filing trays, shelving units, computer boxes…. Things that are too bulky or heavy to put on top.

Final Tally

ProPlus 36ProPlus 48
ProsPros
More Compact – saving desk spaceMax Weight Capacity 45lb (20.4kg)
Deeper Laptop StandSpace for 2 displays, and then some.
ConsCons
Max Weight Capacity 35lb (15.8kg)Large, might not be practical on a standard table
2 Standard Monitors JUST FitShallow Laptop Stand

The Verdict

If you’re looking for something that’s going to carry the weight of two large displays, and you work with a keyboard instead of a laptop, the ProPlus is the way to go.

If you work from a laptop and use one large or two standard displays, the ProPlus 36 is more than adequate, and it’s going to save a lot of extra desk space.

The ProPlus is the most popular, and as a result its also available in three different colors…

But, all in all, it really depends on your personal needs and preference.

Versadesk vs Varidesk

There’s quite a bit of competition here…

vs Versadesk

The Versadesk range offers:

  • Limited Lifetime Warranty: Lifetime warranty on the frame, but only three years on the electronics
  • Electronic Adjustment: All the desks work at the push of a button…
  • Heavyweight: The Versadesks are heavyweight champions, being able to lift up to 80 lbs!
  • Personalized Options: You can choose the color you like for the best keyboard tray and a monitor arm for extra space and versatility…

But the desk reviews speak for themselves… Varidesk desks best choice for People because it arrives unscathed, do what it says it’s going to do ( yeah VersaDesk can LIFT 80 lbs, but it can’t lower it steadily), don’t break in less than a year and the company is much nicer to deal with…

I like Varidesk more, following desk reviews their desk’s best choices on the market!

Our Recommendation on standing desks treadmill desks: LifeSpan TR1200 – DT3 Treadmill Desk and iMovR ThermoTread GT Treadmill Desk are good for Varidesk tables.

What Do I Like?

Besides compared to the Versadesk, I really like the depth of the Varidesk, especially the ProPlus 36.

Varidesk ModelsThere’s enough area to put everything down that would have been on my existing desk, and then there’s still an area for my laptop to sit securely when I’m standing or sitting.

Call me old-fashioned, but getting the Veridesk in black really doesn’t bother me either.

Another thing I like about their company is that they deliver on their promises.

They deliver quality products, and if something isn’t up to the standard, they take full responsibility for it.

There’s no “sorry, we can’t fix that” or “well, that’s your problem now”.

They really do their best to make sure you’re satisfied with your purchase and their service. Also, you can find a lot of guides for DIY Standing desks.

Is Standing Better Than Sitting?

In a recent study by Barancik et al. that is being published in a journal called Performance and Rehabilitation Therapy, participants sat and stood while viewing a set of images and analyzing them. The researchers measured eye movements to assess passive fixation or following stimuli.

They also measured leg strength to see how much stress an individual could put on a hip. These data were then correlated with a range of physical performance and health measures. The results showed that walking or standing for up to four hours per day was able to improve weight and trunk strength, while static weight training did not improve these measures. However, it was a combination of walking and static weight training that resulted in stronger knees and hips.

After twelve weeks of performing eight hours of total activity a week, most of the participants had slightly improved strength and increased knee and hip flexor strength. Walking was also shown to have beneficial effects on a range of physical measurements including heart rate and blood pressure.

However, sitting remained the most common way of exercising in the study and, although walking for up to four hours a day was the best standing exercise, doing so did not improve blood pressure or heart rate. What The Study Did Not Address. Because the Barancik et al. study was focused on muscular strength, it may be that weight training is not as beneficial for improving strength as previously thought. Bodybuilding.com reports that Barancik et al.

Varidesk Competitors

Besides Versadesk, competing brands include VIVO and Flexispot. As with VersaDesk, these two competitors just don’t get the same feedback that Varidesk does. Workfit-T, Workfit-S lines (as key examples) have taken up the baton and developed similar models with keyboard trays.

VIVO offers a cheaper model, which is relatively decent, but you’re going to get cheaper quality. You can’t expect the same standard as with a Varidesk, but it is a good cheap solution for getting a standing desk converter if you don’t have the cash for a Varidesk.

Flexispot is quite a favorite among other models but doesn’t offer the same stability as the Varidesk.

Is it Healthier to Stand at Your Desk?

I have been a long-time proponent of standing desks. I have always liked being able to stand up, and it just makes me feel a little better about getting up and getting things done! I definitely wouldn’t say that it is healthier than sitting at your desk though. Recent studies show that there is no difference between the health risks of sitting at a desk and standing at a desk. The thing that really stands out to me is that at least 5 hours of sitting every day is really a big risk factor for heart disease.

So if you are reading this article I guess you already knew that. To explain further, you have to take into account your age. People who are younger and active can be up and moving every hour! But as you age, you may need to stand up for a few minutes to get something done. This is why you can take your time to adjust to standing. It is OK to stand for a few minutes in the beginning.

Who Makes VertDesk?

VertDesk is a highly skilled team based in Australia, and we’ve spent the past 12 months building a device that’s easy to use and extremely affordable. We’re taking an entirely new approach to meeting the needs of the co-working and SME market with our automated, industrial robot-powered standing desk.

Our purpose, energy, and passion for making a difference are a part of what makes VertDesk stand out from the crowd. We’ll leave no stone unturned when it comes to protecting you and your staff, providing fast and professional service with attention to detail. VertDesk will cost you just £469 (around $675 AUD). If you need an additional projector screen, MFD, docking station, bar sink, lockers, stereo system, or printer, these extra costs will be added.

VertDesk is designed and built in California by Jeremy Hiramoto, Founder and Chief of Hitter, and is backed by big industry names such as Panasonic and Kleiner Perkins. The controller packs have gone into production and the company is currently working with some of the biggest names in the gaming industry. Where Can I Find VertDesk? You can purchase a VertDesk controller kit for $450 (USD) or a high-quality V-Block controller with height-adjustable, which includes everything you need to customize your vert desk yourself for $1,399. There are also some VertDesk branded blank V-Block stands.

VertDesk makes a point of being the only company in the world to manufacture an entire vertical desktop converter chassis in its factory and is now selling these V-Block stands as well. Verdict. The VertDesk V-Block is a clever, smart way to extend the play space of your games. VertDesk transforms your desk from a static place into an interactive, low latency, air hockey type experience. It’s super fun to play and really offers something extra for players and those looking to extend their gaming in unconventional ways. However, it’s also extremely expensive, there are no mobile app and height settings, and you’re stuck with the original grey plastic finish.

Is VariDesk Solid Wood?

Are they plastic? Are they mass-produced? The number one question you’re going to get asked when you start describing the VariDesk to people is “Is it solid wood?” Fortunately, this question is easy to answer. The VariDesk is, in fact, 100% solid wood. For that reason, it can only be built with Standard 8-4/16″-thick planks and thicker on the sides, with the blade attached. With the exception of the blade attachment, each model is custom-made to order, with no two having exactly the same dimension.

Each build is also built to order. Because we’re not mass producing the VD or the lumber, you may have to wait a little longer than if you had ordered the VD at a furniture store. It’s Also Sturdy. Just because the VD is solid wood doesn’t mean it’s weak. You can pick up a few pieces of furniture at IKEA that claim to be solid wood, but they usually suffer from structural flaws that make the pieces hard to work on and maintain. The VD on the other hand is built to last.

What is the Difference Between Varidesk Essential and Pro?

Varidesk is renowned for its reliable and ergonomic standing desks that bring comfort to those who spend long hours at work. Among the most popular models, The Essential and Pro offer a variety of features that make them stand out from each other. Both provide an adjustable workspace tailored to meet the needs of anyone’s exact requirements while both offer many of the same benefits; however, there are several distinguishing characteristics between these two products.

The Varidesk Essential is the perfect introductory standing desk that provides a convenient, cost-effective way to enjoy the many benefits of working while standing.

Its two-tier design features an upper platform measuring 36 inches wide by 23 inches deep along with a lower counter that measures 36 wide and 14.25 depth for accommodating smaller items like keyboards or accessories. It has a 16.5-inch height adjustment range – ideal for users up to 6’1″ tall – plus it can support 35 pounds of weight capacity, more than enough to hold your monitor and other important items!

In contrast, the Varidesk Pro is a sophisticated model that offers an extensive selection of features and functions. Sporting larger two-tier dimensions of 36 inches wide x 29.75 inches deep on top with 36 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep below, it can be adjusted up to 17.5″ high – ideal for those 6’6″ or under! This desk has a weight capacity of 45 pounds which makes it perfect for bigger monitors, multiple displays, or any other substantial equipment you need nearby.

The defining contrast between the Essential and Pro models is the degree of steadiness they each offer.

Is a Varidesk Worth It?

Yes. Varidesk has rapidly earned considerable popularity among sit-stand desk converters, but whether they are worth the investment is dependent upon personal needs and inclinations.

Numerous studies have indicated that standing desks can help enhance posture, and vigor and reduce the chances of certain health issues related to stationary sitting; however, some research suggests that extended standing may lead to back pains or other discomforts. Therefore it’s important for users to weigh up their options before deciding which type of workstation best serves them in terms of comfortability as well as productivity.

They provide an answer to the physical drawbacks of sitting or standing for long periods. With their effortless operation and convenience, they have become increasingly desirable; however, some find them expensive in comparison to other options available on the market.

Additionally, adjustability may be restricted depending on what product you purchase. Despite these minor concerns though, many users recommend their products as viable solutions to improve health outcomes and productivity levels.

The distinction between Electric and Manual VariDesks lies primarily in the method of height adjustment, showcasing the convergence of ergonomic design and user preferences. Electric VariDesks utilize motorized mechanisms powered by electricity to seamlessly transition between different height settings, offering a hands-free and effortlessly adjustable solution.
